This is a 1983 article written by the historian Prof. Manning Marable as a critical response to what was happening to the Congress of Racial Equality under its national director Roy Innis in the 1980's. Marable comments on CORE's involvement in the 1975 Angola civil war stating CORE “was placing its name and prestige in the service of international terrorism and White supremacy.” Marable also comments on the award given to General Westmoreland, the head of the U.S. forces in the Vietnam war, at CORE's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Dinner in 1983.
