This is a July 19, 1963 photo of Brooklyn CORE members Elaine Bilbuld (Black woman, lower left hand corner) and Prof. Ed Lewinson (White male, seated center) before they were arrested at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center demonstration. Elaine Bilbuld was married to Brooklyn CORE member Jerome Bilbuld.
The White woman being dragged away has been identified as Brooklyn CORE member Laura Greenfield. Her husband, Robert Greger, was the photographer for this iconic image of Brooklyn CORE member Mineral Bramletter being arrested.
