Subject
Queens CORE
Description
This is a photo of Queens CORE member Mandola McPherson. In 1967, she was one of the members of the Jamaica Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. ‘charged with conspiracy to commit arson and anarchy as part of an alleged “black revolutionary†plot’. The charges were eventually dropped, but the case became one of the most well known examples of COINTELPRO outside of the Black Panthers.
At the time, she was 38 years old and working as a clerk for the Welfare Department. She later went on to work for the Health & Hospital Corporation.
