Description

This is a 1975 photo of New York CORE member Lucy Komisar. A member of the chapter when they were downtown, she continued to work in the chapter until mid 1962. She was also a Freedom Rider, for which she was arrested in December of 1961.
She also participated in the Route 40 Freedom Rides.

Like Sheila Michaels and Susan Brownmiller, she also became a prominent and popular leader of the feminist movement afterwards. She was the vice president of the National Organization of Women (NOW).
She is currently a well respected investigative journalist.
