Title
photo of Brooklyn CORE chairman Isaiah Brunson
Description
This is a photo of Isaiah Brunson, Brooklyn CORE chairman during its 1964 Stall-In campaign.
Originally from South Carolina, Brunson was working as an auto mechanic before he quit to work full time for CORE. Because of his southern ways and manner of speech, he was considered ‘country’ by many members, meaning slow and not very bright. The fact that Brunson was looked down on because of this is suggested by Dr. Brian Purnell’s dissertation on Brooklyn CORE as well as interviews with Brooklyn CORE members.
