As a member of New York CORE, she led one of the first picket lines in the campaign against Woolworth's in 1960. I use her here as an example of what CORE membership was like (i.e. young, left, white, college educated) before New York CORE moved to Harlem symbolizing CORE's attempt at becoming more relevant to the Black community.
