              <text>This is a photo of Marv Rich (right, coat and tie), the Community Relations Director for CORE, 2nd only to the national director James Farmer. A graduate of Washington University, he entered college about the same time he came into CORE at 16 years old. He was also a founder of St. Louis CORE and participated in the Route 40 Freedom Rides.&#13;
&#13;
  He had previously worked as a trade union organizer and administrator both locally and nationally. In the Army he served as a script chief for the countryâ€™s only psychological warfare section. In an interview, he stated his job was essentially to come up with ways to convince people not to fight.&#13;
