<text> This is a photo of Long Island CORE chairman Lincoln Lynch as a member of CORE.

Originally from Jamaica, he came from, in his own words, a poor background. He immigrated to England and served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.

He emigrated to the United States in 1951 and worked as an airline flight operations officer at Kennedy International Airport.

He is widely recognized as Long Island CORE's most dynamic and significant chairmen. He also participated in the Route 40 Freedom Rides. He went on to become the associate national director of CORE, 2nd only to CORE head Floyd McKissick.

When Roy Innis succeeded McKissick as head of CORE in 1968, Lynch sided with the chapters that seceded from CORE led by Sol Herbert (Bronx CORE) and Sonny Carson (Brooklyn CORE).

He later became an officer in the New York Urban Coalition.</text>
