The CORE members are attempting to stall the trains on the subway platform in order to create confusion and frustrate those attempting to enter the World's Fair. This tactic was used in order to bring attention to the issue of racial discrimination in the construction industry.&#13;

The photo illustrates CORE's blocking technique which was widely used against the construction industry, in particular. It takes place on the New York-Flushing train in the Jackson Heights section of Queens in New York. </text>

At the time, this was the largest civil rights demonstration in the history of the nation. With approximately 450,000 participants, it was almost twice as large as the previous year's March on Washington. &#13;
